The Simple Woman

January 19, 2009

~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

this morning from my kitchen window . . .
a thick covering of snow everywhere, pristine white blankets our back porch and yard

i am remembering . . .
football with friends, watching movies, making bread, dog biscuits, homemade chicken fingers, cutting coupons, c
onquering CVS {at least this week
J}

i am thankful  . . .
for family and daughters who call home

from the kitchen . . .
bread for today, shrimp for scampi

I am thinking . . .
tomorrow’s inauguration, history being made,
misplaced hopes on man to save

around the house . . .
snow clothes, the hum of electric heaters, piles of books

I am reading . . .
and finishing, Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling
by Andy Crouch

my favorite things . . .
early morning solitude, saving money, analyzing information,
caring for our family

a few plans for the rest of the week . . .
still straightening and organizing the home office, organizing the pantry, preparing for Southern Living at Home party tomorrow night,
watching the inauguration

a verse of Scripture . . .
But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body.”

Ecclesiastes 12: 12

Here is a picture thought I am sharing . . .
