open-door-32

Peppered throughout the weeks between now and Christmas, I will be submitting for your consideration the differences between “Entertaining” and “Hospitality”. I hope these thoughts and devotions will bring peace and stability to your holiday preparations and most importantly keep the “reason for the season”  your prioirty for you and your family.

Entertaining versus Hospitality

We often think of entertaining as a woman’s chance to demonstrate her skill and the quality of her home. Entertaining has little to do with real hospitality. We make those we love miserable prior to the sacred event with the precious details, high expectations, and fluctuating confidence levels of our upcoming performance.

Hospitality seeks to minister. It says “This home is not mine. It is truly a gift from my Master. I am His servant, and I use it as He desires.”

Hospitality does not try to impress but to serve.

“But Martha was distracted with all her preparations;”
